As previously mentioned, we are going to take a brief break from spelling in order to focus on learning our multiplication facts. Please help your child practice their multiplication facts for at least 10 minutes every evening during the week. This practice can be as simple as asking multiplication facts (up to 10 x 10) while driving somewhere in the car together, taking a walk, or making dinner. You can use flashcards or just verbally ask them facts. They can even play a multiplication game on the computer, tablet, iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch! Be sure to check out our "Learning Links" tab for student-friendly websites.
Students should have “Math Facts” written in their Agenda each night for homework. In additional to signing for Reading, please sign or initial next to where "Math Facts" is written, so I will know that your child has practiced. The goal is for them to know AUTOMATICALLY, without thinking, the answers to all of the basic multiplication facts.
One a side note: Our Social Studies test on Westward Expansion is TOMORROW afternoon! Be sure to help your child study, using the Social Studies Review Sheet that is going home this evening (already completed by your child at school).
Thanks for your help! :)
