By Reagan On Tuesday 12/15/15 the class went up a level on gonoodle.com. On Wednesday we made a gift for our parents that we finished later. We also shared our science projects and played a landforms matching game. And last but least, today we had a winter breakfast party, played multiplication BINGO, read a book about animals in winter, and played Dreidel! Have great winter break! love Reagan Eeesha, Amirah, Maya, Lolita, Carmen, me (Reagan), and Sahasra, having fun at the party! Some of the families who came to our party! Gabe, Roman, and Gavin, relaxing in their PJs in the classroom library during our party! Deziree, Saniyah, and Preston, dancing during our party! Michael and A.J., hanging out in the classroom library. All of us in our pajamas! Being crazy just a few hours before Winter Break!!! :)
By Mrs. Wagner Hello, friends!
Reagan wrote a great blog post on Friday that I am going to publish as soon as I am able to upload the photos and videos from our awesome week! In the meantime, enjoy this pic of Baby Lincoln! He and I hope you are having a fantastic first day of Winter Break! I miss you already! <3 By Mrs. Wagner It's that time of year...time to begin memorizing our multiplication facts! This Thursday, we are having a Math test on Multiplication and Division. The test will include word problems, computation, and the properties of multiplication. Over Winter Break, each student will take home a pack of index cards (already cut in half and separated into baggies). On the front of the cards, the students will write 2 factors and on the back, they will write the product. For example, 7 x 3 will be written on the front of the card (vertically) and 21 will be written on the back of the card. Parents and Guardians, please do not write the cards for your child. Writing the cards helps them practice learning their multiplication facts. Also, please make sure your child uses PENCIL only (no colored pencils, pen, or crayons). Once we return from Winter break, the students will be practicing these flashcards for homework every night and you will be signing a log, verifying that they are practicing. This is a great way to help everyone memorize their multiplication facts, which is an important 3rd grade skill! The directions below should say "Winter Break", not "Thanksgiving Break". Please excuse the error.
Let's work together to help everyone be successful in 3rd grade! P.S. Don't forget to sign up to bring something to our Winter Breakfast Party!
By Eesha This week we had baby Lincoln come over to our classroom! We also had our chorus concert! We all think our friends, Saniyah, Ellie, Lolita, Najah and Deziree did a great job! Baby Lincoln came to our classroom to be Mrs.Wagner's date to the chorus concert! Third and Fourth Grade Chorus did an AMAZING job!! On Friday, we had our book fair! Many people shared some of their money with people who didn't have any money or bought books for their families! Mrs.Wagner even gave us a class compliment! This week we also started working on our Realistic Fiction stories. Many of us had some creative ideas! Have a wonderful weekend!! :)
By Mrs. Wagner All parents and guardians are invited to join our class for a Winter Party Breakfast on Friday, December 18th from 8am-9am! Please RSVP by Thursday, 12/10. Once all of the RSVPs have been received, another sign up genius will be sent out, requesting breakfast contributions. The contributions will be based on the number of parents attending, so please don't forget to RSVP! Also, don't forget that the 3rd-8th grade OCS Winter Concert is TOMORROW, 12/9 from 7pm-9pm at Cab Calloway. Baby Lincoln and I will be there to watch the concert! Below is a map of the concert location: I hope to see you all there! P.S. For those who have asked, follow the link below to be directed to our class wish list on amazon:
By Najah We've been talking about realistic fiction stories in class this week. The book is called jamal's secret and we've also been talking about the 13 colonies. It is so interesting we earned all of our class compilments for a party but we don't know what the party is going to be yet! I think it will be a pj's stuffed animal party because a lot of people like lolita and I voted for that! the class and I have been talking about divison and multiplication. sometimes division is super hard but we are trying our best! i love school! it helps us learn new things that you and I did not already know. We don't have school on Monday! Yipee! ...but i will still read and study! :)
By Mrs. Wagner Have you been checking the blog for weekly updates? Not only will students continue writing their own weekly blog posts, but I will also be writing updates about what is going on in our classroom.
Also, be sure to view the Upcoming Events tab. There, you will find a calendar for the current month, including special events, assessment dates, and due dates for projects. There are lots of things happening in the month of December, so be sure to check it out! |
